Leadership And Volunteer Engagement Are Necessary For Non-Profit Organizations

When we talk about volunteer community involvement it’s always teams and volunteer engagement. So when I heard about Abiola Oke and her amazing work with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) I was immediately drawn to her story. After serving as a volunteer leader for many years in Africa, Abiola came to the United States to help find a cure for AIDS. But what really brought her to this task was her desire to use her education and volunteer experience to empower ordinary people who want to make a difference. Through her leadership and volunteer role she realized that there was a need for an organization in the UK that cared for the very people that she had served overseas – people who simply needed a break from the usual life.

Working in Kenya: A Program Administrator’s Personal Journey

When she founded Abiola Oke in 2021 she wanted a non-profit organization that provided services for HIV-positive people in Manchester and England – service that would include an extensive experience in volunteer engagement. And volunteer engagement was exactly what she found through Nasim Oke and Abiola’s non-profit. Abiola began by setting up a computer desk and filling it with computer equipment and workspace for her volunteers. There were no budget constraints and no need to hold events: every meeting was free and you could even have it on audio so people could listen while working on projects. Abiola and her team have been nothing short of spectacular at making sure that everyone has had an amazing time while benefiting from their non-profit.

Team and volunteer engagement is at the foundation of most successful non-profits. This is why I believe that Abiola Oke’s leadership and volunteer engagement have contributed more than anything else to the fantastic success of Nasim and AHF. Through hard work and a vision, Abiola Oke helped transform a dream into reality. That is why I look forward to supporting Abiola and AHF in the future.
